Che gran cosa, imparare a giocare insieme è secondo me il miglior modo di approcciare al gioco. Poco importa se si fanno errori o si gioca in modo un po' ingenuo, avrete tempo per raffinare il vostro stile di gioco e contagiarlo nel tempo con quello di altri giocatori. Il mio consiglio è semplicemente di divertirvi, poco male se viene infranta qualche regola, non è quello il cuore del gioco e sicuramente non è importante ora. Il fatto che i tuoi giocatori dicano di essersi divertiti è già un ottimo inizio. La sconfitta dei personaggi in gioco (che per loro fortuna NON è un TPK) non è una cattiva cosa, insegna che ci si può lasciare le penne se non si sta attenti e che non sempre si è così fortunati da salvarsi. Evita magari di dare la sensazione che le loro azioni non abbiano alcuna influenza in questo, devono avere la sensazione che avrebbero potuto evitare la disfatta facendo le cose diversamente, il GdR è pur sempre un gioco e bisogna giocare bene per superare le sfide. Riguardo all'avventura pensata per quattro giocatori, ti direi di affiancarli a due PNG ma se anche tu sei agli esordi potrebbe essere un impegno eccessivo, cerca magari di rendere le sfide un po' più facili riducendo il numero di nemici o le loro capacità. Riguardo al regolamento, apprendere sul campo va benissimo, saranno loro se interessati a volersi leggere il manuale. Puoi incentivarli ma non cercare di forzarli, non siamo a scuola. Venendo ai tuoi punti, alcuni pensieri sparsi da parte mia: Se il gruppo è di soli 2 giocatori ma l'avventura è pensata per (circa) 4, e non vuoi renderla troppo pericolosa, considera come soluzione semplice di dimezzare (più o meno) il numero di nemici di ogni incontro o, laddove non fosse possibile, dimezzare i punti ferita dei nemici e i danni che infliggono. Hai fatto benissimo a non pretendere che studiassero il regolamento: impararlo man mano che si gioca, come state facendo, è molto più efficace, non solo per i ragazzini ma anche per gli adulti. Hanno fatto benissimo a non leggere la backstory del personaggio, ogni backstory più lunga di un rigo è in genere inutile o perfino dannosa quando si è agli inizi. Mi potresti dare più dettagli su cosa, nel concreto, ti ha fatto pensare che faticassero a seguirti o che fossero poco ingaggiati?

A me piace il sistema visibile nell'immagine che fa da sfondo all'articolo: le torce sono segnate come il classico bastoncello con pallino finale. Allo stesso modo le lanterne possono essere segnate come un quadratino con linee sulle due diagonali. Unico problema è segnare in modo efficace un'eventuale illuminazione a soffitto.

Ieri sera ho ho avuto la mia prima pseudo-sessione da DM (nonché la mia prima sessione di DnD in generale, se per questo) e mi sono trovato in alcune difficoltà che non so come superare. Sto facendo affrontare al mio gruppo (formato anch'esso da giocatori alle prime armi) l'avventura "Draghi dell'isola delle tempeste" dall'omonimo set introduttivo. Purtroppo il primo problema che mi sono ritrovato è che il party è solo di 2 giocatori, e hanno infatti subito un TPK al primo incontro (che però non porta alla loro morte perché l'avventura stessa prevede che vengano salvati da un PNG, infatti ho concluso la sessione facendoli svenire dopo aver sentito un ruggito e con la scusa che era tardi, dicendo che il giorno dopo avrebbero scoperto la causa del ruggito). Ho pensato di fare avere almeno a uno dei due un companion ma non vorrei rompere l'immersione per qualcuno che gioca la prima volta. E purtroppo sono due ragazzini, ho veramente difficoltà a tenerli ingaggiati senza distrarsi troppo ed è anche il motivo per cui non ho potuto nemmeno pretendere che si leggessero il regolamento (si, intendo solo il libretto del set, non il manuale del giocatore, che nemmeno possiedo lol) che sto spiegando personalmente man mano, e a malapena uno ha letto il backstory del proprio personaggio. Devo trovare un modo di tenerli interessati nello svolgimento e sperare che seguano effettivamente ciò che sto dicendo, il che è complicato. Eppure hanno detto che sono divertiti e spero nella sessione di oggi (in cui probabilmente avrò più tempo di studiarmi l'avventura (e evitare errori come riportare in vita a 1 PF uno zombie in modo errato lol) e leggere eventuali consigli da qui) potrò coinvolgerli meglio possibile. E per chi se lo stesse chiedendo, nella mia zona non importa a NESSUNO di DnD perciò ho solo loro con cui giocare, sperando che si interessino. (E vorrei scusarmi se posso risultare fastidioso con i miei topic leggermente frequenti, ma mi trovo in un disperato bisogno di aiuto in questa situazione che non ho idea di come gestire.)

Oggi... beh oggi è un'altra questione. Diciamo che causa poco tempo, poca voglia di sbattersi e il fatto di non giocare una campagna che possa definire davvero "mia" e consideri quella principale, non mi discosto molto dal sistema dei manuali base. Regole casalinghe al minimo, insomma. I personaggi ottengono PX per il superamento delle sfide (che in combattimento significa PX per aver sconfitto i mostri), l'unica difficoltà di questo sistema è evitare di cadere nella tentazione di definire solo le sfide che vanno nella direzione che avevo pensato. Occorre lasciare infatti massima libertà d'azione ai personaggi e valutare le sfide in corso d'opera.
